In response to a growing need in the market, Rhovyl has designed
a full range of fibres for various types of filtration.
CHEMICAL FILTRATION
Being chemically inert, Rhovyl® fibres are unaffected by practically all chemical compounds.
Concentrated acids and bases and oxidising and reducing agents
have no effect on them. When the fibres come into contact with
these substances, their mechanical characteristics remain intact.
Thanks to the great shrinkage potential of Fibravyl® (60% at 110°C), it is possible to make fabrics with a very tight
weave that strengthens the intrinsic qualities of Rhovyl® fibres, resulting in even more effective filtration.
Rhovyl® fibres are thus perfectly suited to filtration methods using
bleach or hydrochloric acid and electrolytic processes.
FOOD FILTRATION
The heat sealing properties of Isovyl® MPS fibre mean that it can be used in the form of a nonwoven
material for filtration of wet or dry foodstuffs (e.g. milk, tea,
etc.).
This food-grade fibre is suitable for use in paper filters for
hot or boiling liquids and complies with the recommendations of
the German public health administration and the US Food and Drug
Administration (FDA).
AIR FILTRATION
Rhovyl® fibres are used in air filtration due to their natural, permanent
non-flammability. The resulting filters have very good burning
behaviour (category M1) and fulfil safety requirements for air
filtration equipment in hazardous industrial environments (e.g.
in the coal and oil industries).
In addition, Rhovyl produces an antibacterial fibre, Thermovyl® ZCB, effective enough to be used for air filtration. The antibacterial
agent built into the fibre itself during manufacture inhibits
the development of bacteria and ensures total asepsis in the filtered
product.
